A weekend in Nashville

Two days covers Nashville's core well. A week lets you add the neighborhoods a two-day trip skips. Give 12 South a half-day for its boutique shopping strip, then Germantown for a slower meal away from downtown's crowds. Spend a morning in Hillsboro Village around Vanderbilt, browsing its independent bookshops and diners, and an afternoon in Wedgewood-Houston or The Nations for gallery-hopping if contemporary art interests you. Canopy by Hilton Nashville Downtown The Gulch opened most recently, in June 2025, on the site of the former Yazoo Brewing Company, with skyline-view suites and connecting terraces. The Gulch itself is walkable and design-forward, with boutique retail and restaurants layered over its industrial bones, close enough to Broadway and Music City Center to reach either on foot.

SoBro (South of Broadway)

SoBro — literally South of Broadway — is the fastest-changing stretch of downtown Nashville, and it carries the heaviest hotel count on our list: four of the fourteen tracked properties. Hyatt Centric Downtown Nashville opened first, in July 2021, a 252-room tower two blocks off Broadway with Cumberland River views and a rooftop pool. 1 Hotel Nashville followed in July 2022, an eco-lifestyle property directly across from Music City Center with a plant-covered facade and a Bamford Wellness Spa. Four Seasons Hotel Nashville opened in November 2022 inside a 40-story tower — among the tallest in Tennessee — with river-facing rooms and an infinity pool. Motto by Hilton Nashville Downtown, Hilton's micro-room lifestyle brand, opened in 2025 on 3rd Avenue South with rooms as small as 150 square feet and connecting clusters built for groups. SoBro suits travelers who want convention-center and stadium proximity along with easy Broadway access, at rates spanning from Motto's compact rooms to Four Seasons' five-star end.

Downtown Historic Core & Lower Broadway

The blocks around Lower Broadway and Second Avenue North are Nashville's original tourist core — the Ryman Auditorium, the honky-tonks and Second Avenue's cast-iron storefronts all sit within a few minutes' walk of each other. Studio 154 opened here in July 2022, a 16-suite boutique hotel on Second Avenue built around app-based keyless access, with riverfront balcony suites and a rooftop Skydeck. Tempo by Hilton Nashville Downtown opened in February 2024 half a block from Broadway, next to the Nashville Yards development, with a wellness-oriented program of Peloton-equipped rooms and Topgolf Swing Suites. Midtown & West End

Music Row

Music Row — the stretch of 16th and 17th Avenues South lined with record labels, publishers and recording studios since the 1950s — has exactly one new hotel from our tracked list: Motif on Music Row, an all-suite property that opened in July 2024 on the site of the former United Artists Tower. Every one of its 133 suites comes with a full kitchen and a washer-dryer, aimed at touring musicians and relocating professionals staying multiple nights rather than a single weekend. The neighborhood itself stays quiet after office hours — it's a working music-business street, not a bar strip — with downtown's Broadway and the honky-tonks a short walk or rideshare away.

South Bank

South Bank, the riverfront district on the east bank of the Cumberland River, is Nashville's newest hospitality address — a rezoned stretch of the city being redeveloped alongside a new Tennessee Titans stadium and mixed-use towers, still more construction zone than finished neighborhood. The Printing House Nashville, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, opened here in September 2025, a 187-room, LEED-certified build with a design story tied to Nashville's printing and songbook history, about four blocks from Broadway and within walking distance of the Ryman. It's a bet on where the neighborhood is heading rather than where it already is, worth booking for travelers who want new construction and quieter surroundings within reach of downtown.

Hillsboro Village

Hillsboro Village, between Vanderbilt University and Music Row, has largely stayed out of Nashville's tower-building boom — a walkable pocket of independent bookshops, diners and live-music clubs rather than convention hotels. The Chloe Nashville opened here in January 2026, a 19-room boutique hotel built from two restored 1920s craftsman cottages that once housed the Asylum and Spirit Music labels, where artists including Bob Dylan and George Jones once recorded. It's the smallest and most recent hotel on our list, suited to travelers who want a neighborhood stay over a downtown tower, with an outdoor pool and garden also sold as day passes to locals.

East Nashville

Across the Cumberland River, East Nashville built its identity on independent music venues, galleries and a restaurant scene running from dive bars to tasting menus, with a slower, more residential pace than downtown. It's a good match for repeat visitors or anyone prioritizing atmosphere over walking distance to Broadway — a short rideshare covers the gap. None of the fourteen hotels we track have opened here; East Nashville's lodging supply remains mostly short-term rentals and small independent inns rather than the new-build towers filling downtown.

12 South

12 South, a strip of boutique shops and cafes running south toward Green Hills, sits among the city's most walkable shopping neighborhoods, with tree-lined residential streets on either side and a favorite spot for a slower afternoon away from downtown's crowds. It carries little hotel supply of any kind, and none of our tracked openings are here.

Germantown

Germantown, immediately north of downtown, is one of Nashville's oldest neighborhoods, rebuilt over the past two decades around historic brick rowhouses, a strong restaurant row and Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park. It's an easy walk to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Broadway without sitting inside the tourist strip itself. No new hotel from our tracked list has opened here.

Wedgewood-Houston & The Nations

Wedgewood-Houston, two miles south of downtown, has turned a former industrial stretch of factories and warehouses into an arts hub of galleries, studios and small music venues, while The Nations, west of downtown along the river, is doing something similar with its own stock of former industrial buildings. Both remain creative, low-rise neighborhoods better suited to a day trip than a hotel stay for most visitors, and neither has a new hotel from our tracked list yet.
