The place
The hotel occupies the landmark Hearst Building at the intersection of Market and Third Streets, the historic gateway between San Francisco's Financial District and Mid-Market.
The concept
Built in 1911 as home to the San Francisco Examiner and remodeled in 1938 by architect Julia Morgan, the Spanish Revival building — its facade still fronted with Tennessee pink marble, terra cotta and 20 cast bronze animal medallions — becomes Auberge Resorts Collection's first San Francisco hotel under an adaptive-reuse redesign by Roman and Williams. The concept leans on the building's newspaper-baron history and West Coast eclecticism rather than a generic luxury template.
Dining & wellness
Plans include an Auberge Spa, a destination restaurant, and a rooftop bar overlooking downtown San Francisco; specific dining concepts have not yet been announced.
