newhotels.io started from a simple frustration: there was no single place to see, at a glance, which hotels were genuinely new — not a repackaged press release, not a sponsored listicle, just a clear, verified record of what just opened and what’s coming next, anywhere in the world.

Why we built this

I’ve spent years building guides that people actually trust to make a decision — first with Newtable, a restaurant guide, and then with Où Bruncher, a guide entirely dedicated to finding the best brunch spots. Both taught me the same lesson: the value of a guide isn’t the number of listings it has, it’s the discipline behind which ones make the cut. newhotels.io applies that same discipline to hotels — at a much bigger scale, because new hotels open somewhere in the world every single day.

A network of friends, not a newsroom

This isn’t run out of a single office. It’s a group of friends spread across different countries and time zones, each one closer to their own market than any of us could be from a desk in one city. That’s a deliberate choice: a hotel opening in Lisbon, Marrakech or Osaka deserves someone who actually knows the neighborhood, not a generic global summary. What ties us together is the same standard everyone holds their own entries to, wherever they’re writing from.

Editorial quality, honestly explained

Every market we cover is anchored by people who know it well — the closest thing we have to local correspondents, rather than a single team guessing from afar. Before a hotel earns a place on this site, it has to clear a strict, unglamorous bar: independent confirmation of the opening, a real address and a real operator, and enough substance to say something useful about it — not just a name and a stock photo. A hotel we can’t verify simply doesn’t get published, no matter how promising the announcement looks. That standard is slower than scraping a press release, but it’s the only way a guide like this stays worth reading.
