Le Méridien San Diego Pinnacle

Le Méridien is bringing a new 39-story tower to downtown San Diego's waterfront, opening with 231 rooms and a rooftop pool and bar on the top floor. Marriott's own property page now targets a January 2027 opening for the ground-up build at 501 West A Street.

The place

The hotel rises at 501 West A Street in downtown San Diego, a new-build tower steps from the waterfront and Little Italy. The site places guests within walking distance of the harbor, the Gaslamp Quarter, and the city's convention and business core, on a stretch of skyline that has seen little new hotel construction in recent years.

The concept

Le Méridien San Diego Pinnacle is ground-up new construction, not a conversion of an existing property, developed as the brand's downtown flagship for the market. Many of the 231 guestrooms and suites include private balconies overlooking San Diego Bay or the city skyline, a detail that distinguishes it from the boxier convention hotels nearby. The project leans on Le Méridien's design-forward, art-and-culture positioning, aimed at a mix of business travelers drawn by on-site meeting facilities and leisure guests booking a bayfront stay.

Dining & wellness

The hotel is planned with three distinct dining venues, including a restaurant and a lobby lounge, alongside a rooftop bar and pool on the 39th floor with panoramic views of the bay and skyline. Event and conference space is designed to accommodate up to 871 guests, positioning the property for both meetings and social events. Specific chefs, restaurant names, and spa facilities have not yet been announced.
