Carté Hotel stands at 401 West Ash Street, at the southern edge of Little Italy, within walking distance of both the neighborhood's restaurant-heavy India Street corridor and downtown San Diego's civic core. It's a border address that puts guests within reach of Little Italy's dining scene without sitting inside its densest tourist blocks.

The concept

Carté is a new-build, 16-floor, LEED Silver-certified hotel that opened in September 2019 as part of Hilton's Curio Collection, the soft-brand platform for independently minded upscale properties. Interiors from The Manchette Studio run through the hotel's 246 rooms and public spaces, aimed at a design-conscious lifestyle traveler rather than a convention-scale business crowd.

Dining & wellness

Canvas Café + Lounge handles the hotel's main dining and lounge program, while Fonte di Vino, a wine and specialty-spirit tasting room, carries a list drawn from roughly 50 to 70 regional and international wineries. A rooftop bar adds elevated views over Little Italy and downtown.
