InterContinental San Diego

InterContinental San Diego opened in September 2018 on the downtown bayfront, a new-build, 400-room tower developed by Portman Holdings as the second phase of its BRIC mixed-use project. The opening marked the InterContinental brand's return to San Diego for the first time since 1987, with a signature restaurant, Vistal, and roughly 23,000 square feet of meeting space aimed at conference business.

The place

InterContinental San Diego stands at 901 Bayfront Court, on the downtown waterfront at the corner of Broadway and Pacific Highway. The bayfront address gives most rooms a direct view over San Diego Bay, a short walk from the Gaslamp Quarter, the convention center and the harbor's cruise and ferry terminals.

The concept

The 19-story, 400-room hotel is a new-build development by Portman Holdings, built with general contractor Hensel Phelps as the second phase of BRIC, Portman's mixed-use complex at Broadway and Pacific Highway. It marked the InterContinental brand's return to San Diego for the first time since 1987 when it opened in September 2018, and sits atop roughly 32,850 square feet of ground-level restaurants and retail along Broadway and Pacific Highway, with about 23,000 square feet of ballroom and meeting space aimed at conference and group business alongside leisure bayfront stays.

Dining & wellness

Vistal is the hotel's signature restaurant and bar, with multi-level indoor and outdoor terraces and balconies overlooking the bay. A rooftop bar and pool add an elevated dining and drinking venue above the Gaslamp Quarter and the harbor.
