Fairmont Manchester San Diego

Fairmont and Manchester Financial Group are building a 36-story, 1,160-room tower on San Diego's North Embarcadero — set to be Fairmont's largest hotel in the United States. Directly across from the USS Midway Museum and a short walk from the Convention Center and Gaslamp Quarter, the $550 million project is due to open in 2027.

The place

The tower rises on the North Embarcadero of San Diego Bay, directly across from the USS Midway Aircraft Museum and adjacent to the Cruise Ship Terminal, within walking distance of the San Diego Convention Center and the Gaslamp Quarter.

The concept

Designed by Gensler, the all-glass tower with bronze accents draws on Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern references rather than a generic contemporary-glass playbook. Its scale — 1,160 rooms including 69 suites and a Fairmont Gold floor — makes it a convention-and-group play as much as a leisure hotel, sized to compete directly with San Diego's largest waterfront properties.

Dining & wellness

The hotel is planned with six restaurants and bars, including a 160-seat signature restaurant, a coastal Baja concept, a noodle shop, a rooftop poolside grill, a café and a lobby bar, alongside a spa and more than 120,000 square feet of meeting space across two 20,000-square-foot ballrooms.
