Noelle

Noelle reopened in early 2018 inside a restored 1929 Art Deco office tower on Printers Alley that began life as the 250-room Noel Hotel. Rockbridge Capital and Makeready's renovation returned the building to hotel use with 224 rooms, a Richard Sandoval restaurant and a rooftop bar, after decades as office space.

The place

Noelle sits at 200 Fourth Avenue North, on historic Printers Alley in the heart of downtown Nashville, a short walk from Lower Broadway's honky-tonks, the Ryman Auditorium and the Country Music Hall of Fame. The block puts guests inside downtown's densest concentration of live music and nightlife rather than adjacent to it.

The concept

The building opened in 1930 as the 250-room Noel Hotel, designed by Marr Homan Architects for developers John and Oscar Noel, before decades of decline and conversion to office use. Rockbridge Capital bought the 13-story tower in 2014 with the explicit goal of returning it to hotel use, and partnered with Dallas-based hospitality company Makeready on the reimagining. Nashville firm Feltus Hawkins Design and architect Nick Dryden of Dryden Architecture and Design led the redesign, which reopened the building as Noelle in early 2018 with 224 rooms — fewer and larger than the original Noel Hotel's room count, spread across 13 stories with locally sourced interiors.

Dining & wellness

Chef Richard Sandoval's Lona serves as the hotel's restaurant, with the rooftop Rare Bird bar and the speakeasy-style Hidden Bar adding two more distinct drinking spaces inside the same building. Drug Store Coffee handles daytime coffee service, and the Trade Room functions as a smaller meeting and event space, giving the property a spread of venues built for a downtown crowd as much as for overnight guests.
