Fairlane Hotel

The Fairlane Hotel opened in fall 2017 inside a 1972 bank tower in Nashville's Arts District, the first hospitality use for a building that spent four decades as the headquarters of Fidelity Federal Savings and Loan. Oliver Hospitality's 81-room conversion keeps much of the tower's period detailing intact, from terrazzo floors to travertine columns.

The place

The Fairlane occupies a 12-story mid-century tower at 401 Union Street, in the Arts District a few blocks from Printers Alley and Lower Broadway's honky-tonks. The address sits closer to Nashville's office core than to the tourist strip, putting the hotel within walking distance of the Ryman Auditorium and Second Avenue without sitting inside the loudest stretch of downtown.

The concept

Oliver Hospitality and BNA Associates developed the hotel inside the former headquarters of Fidelity Federal Savings and Loan, a bank building erected in 1972 that had never previously operated as a hotel. Rather than stripping out the tower's period character, the conversion leans into it — terrazzo flooring, original wood paneling, travertine columns and brass fixtures carry through the public spaces and 81 guest rooms, paired with a green, brown and cream palette that reads as a considered update of 1970s International Style rather than a full modernization. Rooms count among the larger standard sizes in the city, with floor-to-ceiling windows and walnut-paneled semi-transparent showers as a signature detail. Charlestowne Hotels, which also operates The Oliver Hotel in Knoxville and Hotel Clermont in Atlanta for the same ownership group, manages the property day to day.

Dining & wellness

Modern Love serves locally inspired food and coffee across the hotel's ground-floor public spaces, alongside a Stumptown Coffee counter. The Mile End Delicatessen adds a New York-style deli concept on site, rounding out a food-and-beverage program built for both hotel guests and downtown foot traffic rather than a single central restaurant.
