The place
The hotel occupies Admiralty Arch on The Mall, the ceremonial route linking Trafalgar Square to Buckingham Palace — a monument designed by Sir Aston Webb and commissioned by King Edward VII in memory of Queen Victoria.
The concept
The conversion of Admiralty Arch marks Waldorf Astoria's first London property, restoring a building that served as government offices for over a century. Interiors by historic-restoration specialist Andrew Damonte pair the arch's original architecture with 114 rooms, suites and residences — more than half the accommodation configured as signature or residential suites — alongside a grand ballroom and private spa.
Dining & wellness
Dining includes Coreus, Clare Smyth's restaurant built around British coastal produce with an adjoining whisky-and-seaweed bar, and Café Boulud, Daniel Boulud's all-day rooftop restaurant overlooking St James's Park. The spa has individual and couples' treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy pool, sauna and steam room.
