The Cadogan, A Belmond Hotel
Belmond takes over Oscar Wilde's old Chelsea haunt after a four-year closure, reopening five Victorian townhouses as a single hotel.
Open · February 2019
Belmond reopened the historic Cadogan Hotel on Sloane Street in February 2019 after a four-year closure, taking over an address associated with Oscar Wilde since 1887. The 54-room property, now The Cadogan, A Belmond Hotel, spans five Victorian townhouses between Chelsea and Knightsbridge.

The place
The hotel occupies five connected 19th-century Queen Anne-style townhouses at 75 Sloane Street, on the border of Chelsea and Knightsbridge, next to Sloane Square station.
The concept
The Cadogan Hotel had operated independently since 1887, most famously as the site of Oscar Wilde's 1895 arrest in Room 118 and as a haunt of Lillie Langtry. It closed for renovation in 2014, with planned reopenings slipping from 2016 to 2018 before Belmond finally relaunched it in February 2019 as Belmond Cadogan Hotel — a genuine operator and brand change at a historic address, not a cosmetic refresh — later restyled as The Cadogan, A Belmond Hotel. Public branding at the address changed from an independent name to a global luxury group for the first time in the building's history.
Dining & wellness
The property includes a spa, fitness centre and library alongside more than 400 pieces of original art throughout the public spaces; specific restaurant and bar concepts are not consistently detailed across sources.
