Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square
The Port of London Authority's former headquarters, built between 1915 and 1922 beside the Tower of London, became a 100-room Four Seasons in 2017.
Open · January 2017
The Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square occupies the former headquarters of the Port of London Authority, a Grade II* listed building on Tower Hill. It has 100 rooms, 41 private residences and, in the same building, a private members' club developed with Chateau Latour. Four Seasons announced a January 2017 opening, while the main contractor dates the completion of the redevelopment to 2018. Reignwood Investments was the owner behind the scheme.

The place
The building stands beside the Tower of London, on Trinity Square. Four Seasons describes St Paul's Cathedral as a short walk away and Canary Wharf and the West End as easy to reach. The City is to the west and Tower Bridge to the south.
The concept
Sir Edwin Cooper designed the building, which went up between 1915 and 1922 as the Port of London Authority's headquarters. It was damaged in the Blitz, which destroyed the domed rotunda, and a 1970s renovation filled the central courtyard with offices. The first reception of the United Nations General Assembly was held there in 1946, which is why one of its rooms is now the UN Ballroom. The insurance broker Willis Faber later used it as its European headquarters, and offices occupied it until 2008.
The conversion reinstated the rotunda, and the contractor Ardmore dug a new basement beneath the existing structure. The interiors involve Bruno Moinard, Martin Kemp, AB Concept and Joseph Caspari. Maritime details run through the architecture and decoration.
The UN Ballroom is wood-panelled, with views over the Tower of London. Merchant's Hall is a circular, naturally lit room above the rotunda. Events can host up to 200 people.
Dining & wellness
There are three places to eat and drink. La Dame de Pic London, run by the French chef Anne-Sophie Pic, was her UK debut. Mei Ume serves Asian cuisine, and the Rotunda Bar and Lounge sits under the restored dome. Antoine Corneille was director of food and beverage at the opening.
The hotel also has a spa, a fitness centre and an indoor pool.
