Treehouse Hotel London
First Treehouse hotel, 95 rooms on the upper floors of Henry Wood House at Langham Place, with a Cali-Mexican restaurant and a rooftop bar.
Open · November 2019
Treehouse Hotel London opened in November 2019 as the first hotel under the Treehouse name, run by SH Hotels & Resorts, the group that also operates 1 Hotels and Baccarat. It has 95 rooms, 12 of them suites, on the upper floors of a building that was most recently the St George's Hotel. The restaurant, Madera, and the rooftop bar, The Nest, are what the hotel puts forward first. The rooms are secondary to them, and smaller than the price of a central London address might suggest.

The place
The address is 14-15 Langham Place, in Marylebone, a short walk from Oxford Circus and from the shops of Regent Street and Bond Street. The hotel takes the upper floors of Henry Wood House, which stands on the site of Queen's Hall, the first home of the BBC Proms until a bomb destroyed it in 1941. Henry Wood was the conductor who founded the concerts.
From the rooftop the hotel lists the London Eye, the Shard, Canary Wharf and Regent's Park among the sights. It describes the city's parks as a quick walk away and the business districts as a short Tube ride.
The concept
Room names follow the treehouse idea: Fort, Lookout, Skyline, Clubhouse. Sizes are modest. A Fort King or a Lookout King measures about 24 square metres (258 sq ft), a Skyline Queen about 21 (226 sq ft). All have rain showers, and the higher floors give city or panoramic views. The Lookout adds a window nook, and the Lookout Two Twin Doubles sleeps four and has a workspace.
The Studio Suite is 38 square metres and has a living area. The Clubhouse Suite is the same size but replaces the rain shower with a separate shower and a soaker tub. Two connecting layouts serve families and groups: connecting Skyline Queens (42 square metres, four guests) and a Clubhouse Suite joined to a Lookout Two Twin Doubles (62 square metres, four guests). Guests in either suite type get priority seating at Madera and The Nest, subject to availability.
The ownership is split. The building belongs to Cairn Group, which owns and runs more than 30 hotels in the UK, while SH Hotels & Resorts operates the hotel.
The hotel is pet friendly, and one package includes dog treats, dog sitting and walking and a canine guide to London. A family package supplies a children's teepee, milk and cookies, and toys. Event rooms take weddings, corporate events and meetings, and the hotel displays a Green Key sustainability label.
Dining & wellness
Madera serves Cali-Mexican food, which the hotel describes as bold in flavour and built on organic ingredients. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and runs recurring offers such as unlimited tacos on Tuesdays from noon to 9pm.
The Nest is the rooftop bar, with 360-degree views of the skyline. On some afternoons it hosts a dog-friendly session, Drinks On The Woof, from noon to 3pm. The hotel's own pages do not list a spa.
