art'otel London Battersea Power Station
Art-focused hotel inside the redeveloped Battersea Power Station
Open · 2023
art'otel opened its first London property inside Battersea Power Station on February 21, 2023, following soft-launch stays from mid-December 2022. The 164-room hotel occupies part of Battersea Roof Gardens, a new Foster + Partners building rising above the redeveloped power station, and turns over its interiors entirely to Spanish artist-designer Jaime Hayon. It is Radisson Hotel Group's art'otel brand betting that a decommissioned coal-fired landmark, now a shopping and residential quarter, can also carry a lifestyle hotel built around a single artist's vision.

The place
The hotel sits within Battersea Power Station itself, on Electric Boulevard, the new pedestrian street threading through the power station's wider redevelopment on the south bank of the Thames. The Zone 1 Battersea Power Station Underground station, opened in 2021 as part of the Northern line extension, sits a short walk away, connecting the district to the West End in minutes. The setting places art'otel inside one of London's most closely watched regeneration projects, a formerly derelict industrial site turned into shops, offices and homes around the four preserved chimneys, giving the hotel a backdrop unlike any other in the city.
The concept
art'otel London Battersea Power Station is the brand's debut in the city, part of a portfolio Radisson Hotel Group operates in partnership with PPHE Hotel Group across Berlin, Amsterdam, Rome, Vienna and other cities. Every element of the 164 rooms and public spaces was designed by Jaime Hayon, named the hotel's Signature Artist, from guest rooms and suites through to light fittings, the spa and a cabinet of curiosities displayed in the public galleries. The result leans into art'otel's stated positioning as a "living work of art" rather than a conventional design hotel, with paintings, sculptures and tapestries curated as part of the stay rather than decoration around it. Guests can explore the collection through guided tours or the brand's WONDERPASS app, and a dedicated studio space hosts rotating exhibitions and workshops, part of an effort to make the art programme accessible beyond overnight guests. The hotel occupies part of Battersea Roof Gardens, a Foster + Partners-designed building that forms one piece of the wider Battersea Power Station redevelopment, putting a lifestyle hotel at the center of a mixed-use district built from scratch around the preserved power station structure.
Dining & wellness
JOIA, a Michelin-starred restaurant from Portuguese chef Henrique Sá Pessoa, spans three floors of the hotel with a 15th-floor dining room, a 14th-floor bar and a rooftop bar, serving British and Iberian cooking with views over the power station and the Thames. TOZI, the hotel's Venetian-inspired restaurant and cicchetti bar, covers pizza, antipasti, afternoon tea and brunch in a more casual register, alongside a dedicated Art Gallery space featuring Alexander Calder-inspired mobile chandeliers. A heated rooftop infinity pool and hot tub on the 16th floor complete the amenities, alongside spa treatments by Proverb, a sauna, steam room and gym.
