Nobu Hotel London Portman Square
Nobu's second London hotel plants a Japanese-accented new-build on Portman Square, opening straight into the middle of a pandemic reopening.
Open · May 2021
Nobu Hospitality and L+R Hotels opened a second, new-build Nobu hotel on Portman Square, fully launching in May 2021 after a lockdown-interrupted debut. The 249-room property runs its own 470-square-metre Nobu Restaurant & Bar alongside a Pilates studio and penthouse suite.

The place
The hotel occupies a prominent corner of Portman Square in Marylebone, a quieter garden square between Oxford Street and Marble Arch. It is a short walk from Nobu's older Shoreditch outpost and from the West End, giving Marylebone a second Nobu-branded address entirely distinct from that first hotel.
The concept
This is the second Nobu-branded hotel in London, a new-build entirely separate from Nobu Hotel Shoreditch (2017) and the 13th Nobu hotel worldwide, developed as the third collaboration between L+R Hotels and Nobu Hospitality. It briefly opened in December 2020 before a fresh lockdown forced it shut again, then reopened properly in May 2021 as restrictions eased: a launch defined as much by pandemic timing as by design. Rooms lean into a minimalist, Zen-inflected register with Japanese touches such as Toto washlets and oversized soaking tubs, arranged across seven categories, several with terraces onto the square.
Dining & wellness
The signature Nobu Restaurant & Bar spans 470 square metres and over 190 covers, including a sushi counter and private dining room, with a year-round outdoor terrace. The hotel also runs a Nobu Pilates studio and a two-bedroom Nobu Penthouse; a 600-person ballroom followed in August 2021.
