Park Hyatt opened its first UK hotel on October 8, 2024, planting 203 rooms inside the One Nine Elms River Tower on the south bank of the Thames. The brand's London debut arrives not in Mayfair or the West End but in Nine Elms, the riverside district reshaped over the past decade by the Battersea Power Station redevelopment and the new US Embassy. With four dining venues, a full-floor spa and one of the largest ballrooms built in central London since 1929, it is a statement of scale as much as of brand prestige.

The place

The hotel occupies the lower floors of the One Nine Elms River Tower, a 42-story riverside development in Nine Elms, on the south bank of the Thames in South West London. The district has been transformed over the past decade by the redevelopment of Battersea Power Station and the relocation of the US Embassy to a site nearby, and the hotel sits within walking distance of both, as well as Battersea Park, the Kia Oval cricket ground and Tate Britain across the river. It is a location built on regeneration rather than heritage — a bet on Nine Elms' continuing rise rather than an address in London's already-established luxury corridors — with roughly two-thirds of rooms facing the Thames and the city skyline beyond it.

The concept

Park Hyatt London River Thames is the brand's first UK property and Hyatt's flagship entry into the London market, with interiors by Japanese design studio Super Potato working within a "contemporary interpretation of classic English style." The 203 rooms and suites are finished with William Morris textile designs, white-and-ebony furnishings accented with leather and brass, electronic blackout blinds, marble bathrooms and floor-to-ceiling windows framing views over the river and, from higher floors, the Houses of Parliament. A sculptural gold installation titled "Ebb and Flow" by artist Charlie Whinney anchors the lobby, part of a wider collection of more than twenty commissioned works, including pieces by Ian Rayer-Smith and Gabriel Leung, distributed through the hotel's public spaces. The property is also built for scale beyond its guest rooms: 14,337 square feet of event space includes a ballroom for up to 830 guests, described as among the largest built in central London since 1929, plus seven further meeting rooms. That positions the hotel as much for corporate and events business as for leisure travelers, a pragmatic complement to the brand's usual emphasis on discreet, design-led luxury, and a bet that Nine Elms' new residential and commercial density will keep both audiences coming.

Dining & wellness

Executive Chef Fabrice Lasnon oversees four food and beverage venues. The Nine Elms Kitchen & Terrace serves seasonal, London-inspired cuisine influenced by the city's cultural diversity, while The Nine Elms Bar & Lounge focuses on cocktails against a backdrop of artwork referencing the area's car-manufacturing past. TAMISé Tea Lounge & Wine Library overlooks the river with a roughly 300-label wine collection, and Yú Gé, a Cantonese restaurant, rounds out the offer. The spa floor adds a 20-by-8-meter heated indoor pool, gender-separated saunas, six treatment rooms and two Somadome meditation pods using LED light and binaural-beat therapy.
