Stein Eriksen Lodge
Built mid-mountain at Deer Valley the year after the resort itself opened, this lodge was named for 1952 Olympic slalom and giant slalom medalist Stein Eriksen, who served as Deer Valley's director of skiing and the lodge's official host until his death in 2015. One of the first luxury condominium hotels in the US, it now holds the longest-running Forbes Five-Star rating in Utah.

The mountain
Park City Mountain, formed by the 2015 merger of the former Park City Mountain Resort and Canyons Resort under a single lift ticket, spans roughly 7,300 skiable acres — the largest single ski resort in the United States by that measure. The Park City side runs from a base elevation of 6,800 feet to a summit of 10,023 feet, a vertical drop of 3,226 feet, and connects to the Canyons side via the Quicksilver Gondola. Deer Valley, a separate resort on the opposite side of town known for its groomed runs and limited daily ticket sales, adds a third major ski area within Park City's boundaries.
The town
Park City started as a silver-mining camp in the 1860s and still keeps its 19th-century Main Street largely intact, now lined with restaurants, galleries and shops rather than saloons and assay offices — it's a National Historic District. The town hosted the alpine, freestyle and Nordic events of the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, and Utah Olympic Park, just outside town, still trains bobsled, luge and ski-jump athletes today. Old Town, around lower Main Street, is the walkable historic core; Canyons Village and the Deer Valley base areas sit at their respective resorts a short drive or shuttle ride away. Year-round population runs around 8,300, far below the crowds a ski weekend or the Sundance Film Festival brings each January.

Beyond skiing and snowboarding across three resort areas, Park City's summer season brings lift-served mountain biking, the Utah Olympic Park's bobsled and zip-line rides, and hiking trails accessible directly from town. Main Street's restaurants and galleries stay busy year-round, and the Sundance Film Festival takes over the town's theaters and Main Street each January with premieres and industry events.

Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) is the gateway, about 35 to 45 minutes away via Interstate 80 and Highway 224 depending on traffic and conditions — one of the shortest big-city-airport-to-major-resort drives in North America.
