Hotel Congress
Built alongside the Rialto Theatre by Los Angeles architects Curlett and Son, Hotel Congress is best known as the spot where a 1934 fire flushed out John Dillinger's gang, who were captured after firefighters unwittingly retrieved their luggage during the rescue. The upper floor was rebuilt in the same style after the blaze, and the hotel's neon marquee and Club Congress music venue remain a fixture of downtown Tucson.

Built in 1930-31 by Isabella Greenway, who the following year became Arizona's first female member of the U.S. Congress, the Arizona Inn's pink stuccoed casitas and villas sit across 14 landscaped acres designed by landscape architect James Oliphant. The Rockefellers, Roosevelts and Kennedys have all stayed here, and the property remains listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
