The place

The hotel sits in downtown Tucson, adjacent to the Tucson Convention Center, Linda Ronstadt Music Hall, Leo Rich Theater and Tucson Arena, in the shell of the long-abandoned Hotel Arizona, empty since 2012.

The concept

Developed with HSL Properties and Desert Hospitality Management, and designed by Swaim Associates with interiors by Offay Design Studio, the project is a multimillion-dollar revival of a building that had sat derelict downtown for well over a decade. As Tucson's first Hyatt Regency, it's pitched at the convention crowd the adjacent Tucson Convention Center already draws, alongside business and leisure travelers.
