Tempo by Hilton Tucson Uptown

Tempo by Hilton Tucson Uptown is a 144-room, five-story hotel under construction at 7400 N. Uptown Drive, on the former Foothills Mall site. It is one piece of Uptown, a two-million-square-foot mixed-use redevelopment led by Tucson-based Bourn Companies. The structure has topped out, and the project is aiming for a January 2027 opening. Houston-based Valencia Hotel Group will run the hotel once it opens, and EBCO General Contractors is building it. Hiring has started: in September 2026 the team named Darren Haley general manager and Janet McClanahan director of sales and marketing. Haley previously ran the DoubleTree by Hilton Tucson-Reid Park and Homewood Suites St. Philip's Plaza, McClanahan is a Tucson native with more than 25 years in Southern Arizona hospitality.

The place

The address is 7400 N. Uptown Drive, in north Tucson, where Foothills Mall once stood. Bourn Companies is replacing the mall with a development of roughly two million square feet, and the hotel is meant to anchor it. The redevelopment is still under way, so the hotel will open ahead of much of what is planned around it.

The concept

Tempo is Hilton's lifestyle brand, positioned in the upscale tier. The Tucson hotel is a new build with 144 rooms, designed by Mayse & Associates (architecture) and Studio 11 Design (interiors).

The brand's wellness angle shows up in a handful of dedicated wellness rooms, fitted with in-room exercise equipment including Peloton bikes. Public areas include a second-level pool deck, a fitness center, about 3,000 square feet of meeting and event space and a Hydration Bar offering complimentary water options.

Dining & wellness

Food and drink center on Moonsong Bar + Café, an indoor/outdoor bar and café conceived for hotel guests and for people from the surrounding development alike. The menu and opening hours have not been published.
