The place
At 1250 Welton Street in Denver's Central Business District, directly across from the Colorado Convention Center and a short walk from the Denver Art Museum and Denver Botanic Gardens: a convention-trade address inherited from the building's institutional past.
The concept
The hotel occupies the former Emily Griffith Opportunity School, founded in 1916 by education reformer Emily Griffith as a school open to all ages and backgrounds; it operated as Emily Griffith Technical College until relocating in 2014, leaving the century-old building vacant. The 2022 conversion kept that history visible rather than erasing it: original staircases and hallways, typewriter-inspired artwork, and school-themed meeting rooms run through the four-story property, positioning it as a heritage adaptive-reuse project rather than a generic downtown convention hotel.
Dining & wellness
Teachers' Lounge Food + Drink serves as the hotel's restaurant, bar and lounge; the property also offers an outdoor patio, roughly 4,500 square feet of meeting and event space, and a fitness center.
