Catbird Hotel

Catbird Hotel opened in RiNo in July 2021, a newly built, modular-construction property whose 165 kitchen-equipped rooms wrap around a preserved 1890s house now run as a four-bedroom suite. It's an independent Sage Hospitality property built for both short getaways and longer, apartment-style stays in Denver's arts district.

The place

Catbird Hotel sits at 3770 Walnut Street in Denver's RiNo Art District, a former industrial corridor now known for galleries, breweries and street art.

The concept

Catbird opened in July 2021 as a new-construction, extended-stay-leaning hotel developed by Sage Hospitality Group with Walnut Development Partners and Exdo Development. The seven-story building was assembled from prefabricated modular panels — a construction method the developers used to speed up the build — and wraps around a preserved 1890s home on the site, restored and renamed the Klee House, which now operates as a four-bedroom suite for groups. Every one of the 165 rooms includes a full kitchen, aimed at guests staying multiple nights, and the hotel's art collection was curated by local firm Nine dot Arts to reflect RiNo's gallery-district identity. The result is a hybrid: a design hotel for short stays that also functions as an apartment-style option for longer ones.

Dining & wellness

Rook Rooftop and The Red Barber operate as the hotel's rooftop bar and restaurant, serving craft cocktails and American fare with a terrace, stage and fire pits. Catbird Kitchen functions as an all-day coffee shop, market and casual breakfast spot on the ground floor.
