The George Manhattan, Tapestry Collection by Hilton
Harlem's first Hilton property, named for a legendary Lindy Hop dancer and the king who chartered Columbia
Open · October 2025
The George Manhattan, Tapestry Collection by Hilton opened in October 2025 on West 126th Street in Harlem — Hilton's first hotel in the neighborhood — with a name and design pulled from Harlem's dance history and Columbia University's royal charter. Its restaurants and pool weren't due to follow until spring and summer 2026.

The place
The hotel occupies new construction at 412 West 126th Street, on the corner of Morningside Avenue in Harlem, within walking distance of Columbia University, the Apollo Theater, Morningside Park, the Studio Museum in Harlem and the National Jazz Museum in Harlem. It's the first Hilton-flagged hotel in the neighborhood, arriving as Columbia's Manhattanville campus expansion has continued to reshape the area immediately north of Morningside Park.
The concept
The George takes its name from two figures tied to the address rather than one: George 'Shorty George' Snowden, the Lindy Hop dancer who helped originate the style at the Savoy Ballroom a few blocks away, and King George II of Great Britain, who chartered Columbia University — then King's College — in 1754. Interiors lean into rich earth tones, matte blacks, deep greens and warm neutrals layered with Art Deco detailing and brass accents in the public spaces, while the 139 guest rooms use more natural textures and floor-to-ceiling windows facing either the street or the hotel's pool deck and courtyard. General manager Sam Martinez, who grew up in Harlem, has framed the hotel's local hiring and community partnerships as central to the project rather than an afterthought.
Dining & wellness
The hotel opened with a terrace lounge, lobby bar, fitness center and roughly 2,000 square feet of flexible meeting space; two full-service restaurant concepts and a heated outdoor pool were slated to follow in spring and summer 2026 respectively, meaning the property opened without its full food-and-beverage program in place.
