The place
The hotel occupies 70 Park Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, a few steps from Grand Central Terminal and Bryant Park. The 1928 limestone-clad Beaux-Arts building opened originally as the Doral Park Avenue Hotel and operated as a hotel under other names and flags for decades before this conversion.
The concept
Kimpton Ashbel New York – Park Avenue marks the launch of Ashbel, a new sub-brand IHG built specifically to house full-scale renovations of landmark buildings under the Kimpton umbrella. Rather than a same-brand refresh, this is a genuine operator change: the property exits independent/other-branded ownership for IHG's boutique-lifestyle arm. Busta Studio's interiors lean into the building's original proportions and craftsmanship — limestone façade, soft natural light, warm woods — layered with gold accents, curated art and a deliberately eclectic, townhouse-like feel aimed at a design-conscious Midtown traveler who wants a boutique address without leaving the corporate core of the city.
Dining & wellness
Food and beverage centers on Park & Bel, a café-and-bar-cart concept in the hotel's ground-floor living room: pastries, seasonal fruit and sandwiches in the morning, then small plates with wine, beer and cocktails in the evening. No standalone destination restaurant has been announced.
