The Ritz-Carlton, Perth opened on 15 November 2019 as the brand's first hotel in Australia in nearly two decades, and the first in Western Australia. The 205-room tower rises above Elizabeth Quay on the Swan River, its pink-tinted glass echoing the state's Argyle diamonds and sunset skies.

The place

The hotel occupies one of twin towers built as part of the Elizabeth Quay Urban Renewal project, on the reclaimed riverfront strip linking Perth's CBD to the Swan River. Guests are steps from Stirling Gardens, the Bell Tower and the ferry terminal, in a precinct built from scratch over the last decade to give Perth a proper waterfront.

The concept

Designed by Perth firm Cottee Parker as one of a pair of sibling towers — the other holding 379 residential apartments — the hotel's exterior draws on the geology and light of Western Australia: a sandstone-clad podium referencing the Kimberley, and mirrored glass in tones borrowed from Argyle pink diamonds and the state's sunsets. Inside, the 205 rooms and suites (18 of them suites, including the 277 sqm Ritz-Carlton Suite) lean into a residential, art-driven aesthetic rather than the brand's more classical properties elsewhere. It is positioned as Perth's flagship five-star address for business travellers and destination weddings alike, at a scale the city's hotel market had lacked before Elizabeth Quay's hotels arrived.

Dining & wellness

Hearth Restaurant and Hearth Lounge anchor the ground floor, built around Western Australian and Great Southern produce with a locally focused wine list; the lounge doubles as a cocktail bar overlooking the quay. The hotel also has an outdoor pool and a fitness centre, along with function space serving Perth's corporate and events market.
