DoubleTree by Hilton Perth Waterfront

DoubleTree by Hilton Perth Waterfront opened on 15 December 2020, an 18-storey, 229-room tower built to extend physically out over the Swan River at Barrack Square. It brought Hilton's DoubleTree brand to Western Australia for the first time and added a large upscale address to the Elizabeth Quay precinct, wrapped in a site-specific light artwork by Perth artist Tom Muller.

The concept

DoubleTree by Hilton Perth Waterfront opened on 15 December 2020 as an 18-storey, 229-room purpose-built tower on Barrack Square, physically extending out over the Swan River — a first for a hotel on this stretch of waterfront. The exterior is wrapped in "Aqua Lux", a site-specific artwork by Perth artist Tom Muller spanning the building's entire perimeter and designed to echo the changing light and moods of the river. The opening gave Hilton's DoubleTree brand its first Western Australian property and added a large-scale waterfront address to the Elizabeth Quay precinct just over a year after the Ritz-Carlton's debut nearby. Owned by SKS Group and managed by Hilton, it positions itself as an upscale, amenity-led alternative to the precinct's luxury flagship rather than a direct rival to it.
