A Q1 2027 opening was targeted at announcement; no more recent update on construction progress was found.

The place
W Manchester forms part of St Michael's, a roughly £400 million mixed-use development from former Manchester United captain Gary Neville's Relentless Developments and Salboy in the centre of Manchester, a few minutes' walk from St Peter's Square.
The concept
Announced in October 2023 as a partnership between Marriott International, Relentless Developments and Salboy, St Michael's pairs a 41-storey tower holding 162 W Hotel rooms with W Residences Manchester: one of only 20 W-branded residences worldwide, and the first outside London in the UK. The wider St Michael's development also includes 217 apartments offered for sale from November 2023, alongside office space let to law firms Pinsent Masons and Hill Dickinson and to Japanese restaurant brand Chotto Matte. Salboy co-founder Simon Ismail has described the ambition as delivering "a truly 5-star international hotel" alongside Manchester's first branded residences.
Dining & wellness
Planned amenities include a pool, spa and gym shared between the hotel and residences; specific restaurant and bar concepts have not been named in sourcing found.
