Treehouse Hotel Manchester opened on 19 March 2025, bringing SH Hotels & Resorts' playful, eco-minded lifestyle brand to a corner site on Deansgate. With 224 rooms, a living green wall climbing its façade and a ground-floor restaurant from Michelin-listed chef Mary-Ellen McTague, it marks the brand's first UK expansion since Treehouse Hotel London opened in 2019. The property leans hard on Manchester's music and nightlife credentials rather than positioning itself as a conventional business hotel.

The place

The hotel sits on Blackfriars Street at its junction with Deansgate, in the heart of Manchester city centre and a short walk from Spinningfields, the Cathedral Quarter and the River Irwell. The address places guests close to the Northern Quarter's independent shops, bars and galleries, with the tram network on the doorstep, Manchester Airport around 30 minutes away, and London reachable in just over two hours by train. It is a city-centre location built to serve both the office and legal crowd around Spinningfields by day and visitors drawn to Manchester's expanding food, music and culture scene by night.

The concept

Treehouse Hotel Manchester is the second UK property for Treehouse Hotels, the lifestyle brand created under Barry Sternlicht's SH Hotels & Resorts (now transitioning under the Starwood Hotels banner), following the original Treehouse Hotel London. The brand's self-described "perfectly imperfect" design ethos (raw textures, reclaimed materials and handcrafted, slightly quirky details) runs through the Manchester build, most visibly in a HYVERT living green wall on the exterior and an indoor tree that rises through the lobby beneath a leafy canopy.

The hotel opened with 224 rooms and suites, including nine suites and three accessible rooms, ranging from compact Cosy King rooms to the larger Treetop Suite; rates started at around £199 a night at launch. Rather than positioning itself as a straightforward business hotel, Treehouse Manchester leans into the city's nightlife and music culture, with programming curated alongside local nightlife figures Luke Cowdrey and Justin Crawford. A 43-seat private screening room, padel courts and a gym round out a brief aimed at making the hotel a social destination for the city, not just a place to sleep.

Dining & wellness

Food and drink centre on Pip, the ground-floor restaurant from Michelin-listed chef Mary-Ellen McTague, built around seasonal, low-waste cooking. The Nest, a cocktail bar with a rotating line-up of DJs and live music, and The Hideout, an intimate rooftop lounge and terrace for gatherings of up to 50, complete the drinking offer. A second restaurant, Sister Moon (a Southeast Asian barbecue concept from chef Sam Grainger) was announced alongside the opening but has been repeatedly delayed, with the brand's own website now pointing to a summer 2026 launch. Wellness facilities include The Playground gym, a sauna and cold-plunge setup, and padel courts.
