The place
The Medlock sits directly against Manchester City's Etihad Stadium at the heart of the Etihad Campus in east Manchester, the club's expanding entertainment district that already includes the Co-op Live arena and the women's team's Joie Stadium. The hotel takes its name from the River Medlock, which runs beneath the campus and connects it to Manchester city centre. It is a stadium-district address in the literal sense: guests step out of the lobby into a compound built for matchdays, concerts and conferences.
The concept
The Medlock is the flagship hospitality piece of Manchester City's commercialisation of the Etihad Campus, a joint venture between the club and Radisson Hotel Group that puts a Radisson Blu flag on a purpose-built, stadium-integrated hotel. It extends a small but growing Radisson sub-portfolio of sports-venue properties that already includes hotels at Edgbaston cricket ground and Twickenham's Allianz Stadium. Managed day-to-day by Valor Hospitality, the 401-room property is built around a dual identity: a conventional upper-upscale hotel most of the year, and an extension of the stadium's hospitality offer on event nights. Its ten pitch-side suites embody that split directly, operating as standard guest rooms on non-event days and converting into private hospitality boxes overlooking the pitch for matches and concerts. The interiors lean on Manchester's industrial heritage rather than football iconography, with 42 suites and a two-storey penthouse suite topping the room mix.
Dining & wellness
Detail on food and beverage has so far been released only in broad strokes. Manchester City and Radisson have confirmed multiple restaurant and bar outlets, a roof walk, a museum experience and dedicated meetings and events space built into the hotel. As of this writing, no specific restaurant concepts, chefs or spa facilities have been named; further announcements are expected ahead of opening.
