Moxy Singapore Clarke Quay

Marriott's Moxy brand makes its Singapore debut on the Singapore River, replacing the Novotel that once anchored the Liang Court site. Folded into CanningHill Piers, the CapitaLand and City Developments Limited complex designed by Bjarke Ingels Group, the roughly 475-room tower is due to open in the first quarter of 2027.

The place

The hotel sits directly on the Singapore River at Clarke Quay, linked to Fort Canning MRT station on the Downtown Line and a short walk from Clarke Quay MRT on the North East Line. Rooms are expected to face the river, the Central Business District skyline, Fort Canning Park or Chinatown depending on orientation. Clarke Quay's restaurant strip and riverside bars sit at the foot of the tower, with the CanningHill Square retail podium opening onto the river promenade.

The concept

The plot has carried a hotel since 1987, first as the Liang Court mall, Novotel Singapore Clarke Quay and a Somerset serviced-apartment block. CDL Hospitality Trusts sold the freehold in 2019 to a consortium of City Developments Limited, CapitaLand and Ascott Residence Trust, which redeveloped the site into CanningHill Piers: two residential towers linked by a sky bridge, a retail podium, a new Somerset serviced residence, and the 21-storey Moxy hotel tower, all designed by Bjarke Ingels Group. CDLHT holds a forward-purchase agreement for the finished hotel, capped at S$475 million, with the property due to reach Temporary Occupation Permit around end-2026 ahead of a Q1 2027 opening. Moxy Singapore Clarke Quay will be the brand's first outpost in the city, built new to Marriott's compact, design-led Moxy template rather than converted from an existing hotel — a contrast with the Novotel it replaces.

Dining & wellness

Public listings for the property, including a Marriott general-manager recruitment posting, describe a standard Moxy social-floor format: a ground-floor restaurant and Moxy Bar built around communal seating, a rooftop bar and pool, a small gym, and roughly 135 square metres of flexible meeting space. This has not been confirmed via an official Marriott or CapitaLand fact sheet naming specific outlets, so outlet names and areas remain provisional.
