On the razed site of Ming Arcade, a 1980s shopping arcade Royal Group bought for a record price in 2022, a 13-storey tower designed by SCDA Architects is rising on Cuscaden Road, steps from Orchard Road. Due to open in early 2027 with 165 rooms, Casa Mett will be Sunset Hospitality Group's second Mett-branded hotel in Singapore, after its Fort Canning conversion.

The place

Casa Mett rises on Cuscaden Road, a short walk from Orchard Road and two blocks from the Scotts Road intersection, in the heart of Singapore's main shopping and hotel district. The address is the former site of Ming Arcade, a seven-storey commercial building dating to 1982 that stood on a corner plot near Orchard and Orchard Boulevard MRT stations.

The concept

In December 2022, Singapore family office Royal Group, controlled by billionaire Asok Kumar Hiranandani, bought the Ming Arcade site in a collective sale for S$172 million, a record price per square foot per plot ratio for the area. The old building was cleared to make way for a purpose-built, 13-storey tower designed by Singapore-based SCDA Architects, with a blade-shaped, curving glass facade rising to roughly 100 metres. Royal Group is investing about S$100 million in construction; rooms are planned at a generous 4.2-metre ceiling height, with sky terraces on the second and eighth floors and a pool bar on the roof deck. Royal Group brought in Dubai-based Sunset Hospitality Group to operate the property under its Mett brand, making Casa Mett the group's second Singapore hotel. The first, Mett Singapore at Fort Canning, is a heritage-building conversion of the former Hotel Fort Canning with 84 rooms that began a phased opening in October 2025 — an entirely separate property with a different building, room count and timeline. Casa Mett, by contrast, is a ground-up new-build on a bought-and-cleared commercial site.

Dining & wellness

Published details on food and beverage remain limited this far ahead of opening. Sunset Hospitality Group and the Mett brand have described the project in terms of dining and a boutique lifestyle guest experience, consistent with the group's other Mett properties in Bodrum, Marbella, Barcelona and Milan, but no restaurant names, chefs or spa specifics have been announced for Cuscaden Road. Confirmed physical amenities are architectural: sky terraces on the second and eighth floors and a rooftop pool bar.
