The Clan Hotel Singapore, the debut property of Far East Hospitality's new luxury brand, opened on 1 March 2021 with 324 rooms inside Far East Square, the developer's own conservation precinct of restored shophouses in the Telok Ayer district. The opening leaned on domestic staycation demand during a period when international travel to Singapore was still largely closed.

The place

The Clan Hotel sits within Far East Square, a conservation precinct of restored shophouses in the Telok Ayer and Amoy Street area of the Central Business District, minutes from Raffles Place, Chinatown and Marina Bay. Far East Organization opened the square in 1999 as a heritage mall around 61 restored shophouses, including the city-state's oldest school building and its earliest temple; the hotel is the precinct's newest and largest addition.

The concept

The Clan Hotel launched on 1 March 2021 as the debut property of a new luxury brand from Far East Hospitality, the hospitality arm of Singapore developer Far East Organization, positioned above the group's existing mid-tier flags. Its 324 rooms run across a modern tower reaching a 30th-floor rooftop pool and gym, built alongside the conservation shophouses that anchor Far East Square. The hotel's theming leans on the history of the Chinese clan associations that once operated around Amoy Street, expressed through a lobby tea ceremony on arrival, a 'Clan Collective' network of local craftspeople and artists, and MASTER Series rooms with a dedicated 'Clan Keeper' concierge service. It opened into a market with almost no international travel, aimed squarely at the domestic staycation demand of the time.

Dining & wellness

QIN Restaurant and Bar, an all-day dining concept from local operator TungLok Group, occupies levels four and five with views over Telok Ayer and serves Asian-influenced dishes such as chilli crab crostini alongside a 60-label wine list. MASTER Series guests get a nightly Clan Daily Special menu built with local hawkers. The Sky Pool, jacuzzi and Sky Gym sit on the 30th floor, and two meeting spaces, The Den and the Mahjong Room, serve business groups.
