Pan Pacific Orchard

Pan Pacific Orchard reopened on 1 June 2023 as a ground-up rebuild of UOL's earlier hotel on the same Claymore Road site, which had closed in 2018. WOHA designed the 343-room, 23-storey tower as four stacked terraces — Forest, Beach, Garden and Cloud — winning the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat's World's Best New Skyscraper award in 2024.

The place

The hotel sits on Claymore Road just off Orchard Road, Singapore's main shopping boulevard, within walking distance of the Botanic Gardens and the Somerset and Orchard MRT stations. It is a straight replacement for UOL's earlier Pan Pacific Orchard on the same plot, which closed in April 2018 to make way for the new building — so the address is not new to Singapore hospitality, but the structure standing on it is.

The concept

Designed end-to-end by Singaporean firm WOHA — architecture, interiors, landscaping and even the branding — the 23-storey, 140-metre tower is built as four distinct low-rise volumes stacked and offset on top of each other, each fronted by an open-air terrace themed Forest, Beach, Garden and Cloud. WOHA principal Wong Mun Summ led the project, which claims more than 200% of the site's land area recreated as planted surface once the terraces, balconies and green walls are added up. The building won the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat's World's Best New Skyscraper award in 2024, a genuine architecture-world credential rather than a hospitality-marketing prize, and one of the more concrete distinctions among Singapore's recent luxury openings. The 343 rooms and suites run large by Orchard Road standards and are arranged so a meaningful share look directly onto one of the four terraces rather than a street or a neighbouring tower — a deliberate trade-off, given the terraces eat into what would otherwise be sellable floor area. It is UOL's flagship hotel and its most expensive single hospitality project on Orchard Road, effectively a bet that a biophilic, terrace-stacked tower differentiates the group's Singapore flag more than a conventional high-rise rebuild would have.

Dining & wellness

Mosella, the signature restaurant on the Forest terrace, serves Mediterranean cuisine with a Peruvian inflection from executive chef Pedro Samper. Florette is a smaller specialty bar built around Champagne and oysters, and Pacific Breeze operates from the lobby's water garden for casual drinks and afternoon tea. Amenities include indoor and outdoor gyms and multiple pools spread across the four terraces, plus a St. Gregory spa reserved for in-house guests rather than open to walk-ins.
