citizenM opened its third Washington, D.C. hotel in June 2026, a 230-room property at 3401 K Street NW in Georgetown. Concrete Amsterdam, the architecture studio that has designed citizenM hotels for years, drew the plans. It is the first citizenM to open since the brand became part of Marriott Bonvoy, the loyalty programme of Marriott International. The hotel is owned and operated by Another Star, the company behind citizenM's portfolio in the United States and Europe.

The place
Georgetown is described as the capital's oldest neighborhood, and 3401 K Street NW puts the hotel on its waterfront side, a short walk from the Potomac and from the C&O Canal. Georgetown University is within walking distance, as are the neighborhood's shops, cafés and boutiques.
The release says nothing about what stood on the site before, so no history of the building is given here.
The concept
citizenM sells a compact room with a big bed and a lot of technology. Here, as in the rest of the portfolio, every room has a wall-to-wall XL king bed with an extra duvet, a rain shower with full-size toiletries, a 4K widescreen TV that streams over the free Wi-Fi, and an iPad that controls the blinds, the temperature, the television and the colour of the lighting.
The ground floor is organised around a shared living room, aimed at travellers who mix work and leisure. Art is part of the pitch: the hotel commissioned a mural from J.D. Deardourff, an artist based in Washington.
Staffing follows the brand's usual model. Ambassadors, as citizenM calls its team, are hired for attitude more than for hotel experience, complete a six-week immersion course and are trained in every job.
The Marriott link changes what guests can earn. Stays at any citizenM now earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points, and the paid mycitizenM+ membership includes instant Bonvoy Gold Elite status. At the time of the opening, citizenM counted 37 hotels in 10 countries, all owned and run by Another Star in the United States and Europe.
Dining & wellness
There is no restaurant. canteenM, the brand's self-service food and drink space, serves snacks and drinks around the clock, and the living room next to it works as the lobby, lounge and workspace at once. A 24-hour gym completes the public areas.

June 9, 2026: Marriott International and Another Star announced that citizenM Washington, D.C. Georgetown, the brand's third hotel in the capital, would open in June 2026 at 3401 K Street. The 230-room hotel was designed by Concrete Amsterdam and includes a living room for travellers mixing business and leisure, canteenM serving snacks and drinks 24 hours a day, a 24-hour gym and a mural by Washington artist J.D. Deardourff. It is the first citizenM to open under Marriott Bonvoy: guests can earn and redeem points on all citizenM stays, and the paid mycitizenM+ membership now includes instant Gold Elite status. Another Star, which owns and operates the 37 citizenM hotels in the United States and Europe, planned two more openings by mid-2026, in London and Washington.
