The place
2015 Massachusetts Avenue NW, on Embassy Row a few blocks from Dupont Circle, surrounded by foreign missions and within walking distance of the Dupont Circle Metro station.
The concept
The building opened in 1970 as the independently run Embassy Row Hotel and passed through several ownership changes over five decades without ever carrying a major flag. A roughly $15 million renovation converted it into The Ven at Embassy Row in March 2021, joining Marriott's Tribute Portfolio under new management by Crescent Hotels & Resorts. The redesign leans on a Nordic-inflected aesthetic — light woods, muted tones, graphic pattern — a deliberate break from the building's more staid, corporate-hotel past. It targets business and diplomatic travelers already drawn to the neighborhood, plus leisure guests chasing the rooftop pool.
Dining & wellness
Fred & Stilla Restaurant and Bar serves globally inspired breakfast, lunch and dinner; Valley Brook Tea runs as a pop-up tea service. The ninth-floor Tag Rooftop Bar and Pool pairs a sundeck and cabanas overlooking Dupont Circle with a bar that turns 21-and-up after 5pm.
