Moxy Washington, DC Downtown
Marriott's budget-lifestyle brand's DC debut, wrapped around an 1870 rowhouse that once belonged to a Civil War Union general.
Open · November 2018
Moxy Washington, DC Downtown opened in November 2018 as Marriott's first Moxy in the capital, a 200-room new build on K Street that folds an 1870 rowhouse facade into its base. Its glass-enclosed rooftop bar, Lucha Rosa, has become as much of a draw as the hotel itself.

The place
The hotel is at 1011 K Street NW in downtown DC, within walking distance of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and Mount Vernon Square.
The concept
A 14-story new build that incorporates the facade of an 1870 rowhouse, once home to a Civil War-era Union general, into an otherwise contemporary structure — DC's first Moxy hotel. Dash Design (Saguez & Dash) built an industrial-chic interior around a running theme of American Modernism, aimed at younger business and leisure travelers who might otherwise skip a full-service downtown hotel.
Dining & wellness
Lucha Rosa, a Mexican wrestling-themed rooftop bar and one of the first glass-enclosed rooftop bars in DC, sits atop the hotel; Rosa's Diner operates at street level.
