The Morrow Hotel opened on 30 November 2022 as a 203-room, ground-up Curio Collection property on the former Central Armature Works site in NoMa. Its original restaurant program, led by Nicholas Stefanelli, has since given way to Marcus Samuelsson's Marcus DC.

The place
At 222 M Street NE, the hotel is a short walk from Union Station and the NoMa-Gallaudet U Metro stop, with Amtrak at hand and Union Market a few blocks away. The site is the last remaining parcel of Central Armature Works, a century-old electrical manufacturing and repair business.
The concept
Trammell Crow Company and MetLife Investment Management developed the hotel as one of three towers in the Central Armature Works project, the other two holding 640 apartments. It is a ground-up building of 12 stories and 149,000 square feet on a formerly industrial block.
Shalom Baranes Associates designed the exterior. INC Architecture & Design handled the lobby and restaurants, and Rottet Studio the guest rooms, function spaces and fitness center. The brief drew on NoMa's industrial and artistic past as the district moved from warehouses to housing and hotels.
Rooms carry Italian linens and Le Labo bath products. The meeting offer totals about 11,400 square feet: a 2,400-square-foot ballroom in several configurations and a 4,900-square-foot outdoor veranda. Pre-opening plans spoke of 16,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor space, a figure the opening release cut to nearly 12,000.
Dining & wellness
At opening, Stefanelli ran four venues. Le Clou was the full-service restaurant, a modern take on the French brasserie. The Lobby Lounge poured coffee and juices by day and cocktails, with a champagne trolley, at night. Vesper, a cocktail lounge with live music, opened on the 11th floor in February 2023, and the rooftop bar Upstairs at The Morrow followed in March 2023 with nightly DJ sets.
The ground floor has changed hands since. Marcus Samuelsson Group now runs Marcus DC, serving modern American cooking shaped by Black culinary traditions from Washington to Ethiopia, under executive chef Anthony Jones. Blue cornbread with yassa butter, mambo-sauced roast chicken and a dry-aged tomahawk steak are among the signature plates, with Mel's Crab Rice as the Maryland dish.
Sly is the rooftop cocktail bar with skyline views. Goodie Lounge, on the 11th floor, doubles as a cocktail room and private event venue.

November 30, 2022: The Morrow Hotel, Curio Collection by Hilton, opened in NoMa with 203 rooms and suites over 12 stories, built on the last site of Central Armature Works. Executive chef Nicholas Stefanelli oversaw four venues: the French brasserie Le Clou, the Lobby Lounge, the 11th-floor Vesper lounge (February 2023) and the rooftop bar Upstairs at The Morrow (March 2023).
