The concept
Mama Shelter Downtown LA is a first-time hotel conversion of the Mart South Building, a former wholesale-mart property in the Fashion District, developed by Ennismore with partner Shivom LLC. It is the brand's second Los Angeles property and, since the original Hollywood Mama Shelter closed in February 2025, its only one in the city. The 149-key hotel carries Mama Shelter's signature playful design language across 145 standard rooms and 4 suites. As of this writing the project remains announced for a 2026 opening without a confirmed exact date.
Dining & wellness
Three F&B outlets are planned: an all-day dining restaurant and cafe on the ground floor, and a rooftop bar and terrace overlooking the city; specific chefs have not been announced.
