voco The Darwin Hotel
IHG's unstuffy voco brand lands in Atlanta with an adaptive-reuse conversion of a five-decade-old Old Fourth Ward building.
Open · November 2024
voco hotels, IHG's design-forward upscale brand, has opened its first Atlanta property with the conversion of The Darwin, a 111-room, four-story hotel in the Old Fourth Ward. The November 2024 opening turns a building with more than 50 years of history into voco's Atlanta debut, complete with a courtyard cocktail bar and a menu built around a local bakery partnership.

The place
voco The Darwin sits at 585 Parkway Drive NE in Atlanta's Old Fourth Ward, on the east side of the city just off North Avenue and steps from Ponce City Market and the Atlanta Beltline. The neighborhood mixes the district's historic bungalows with a fast-growing cluster of galleries, breweries and tech offices.
The concept
voco The Darwin marks the brand's debut in Atlanta and IHG's broader push to bring voco's conversion-friendly model to independent properties across the Americas. Rather than ground-up construction, the hotel is an adaptive reuse of a four-story building with more than five decades of history on the site, reworked into 111 rooms around a central courtyard. The result leans into the neighborhood's creative, gallery-district character, with murals and artwork through public spaces, an onsite dog park and complimentary electric bicycles, alongside voco's sustainability commitments including plant-based amenities and recycled bedding.
Dining & wellness
The hotel's onsite restaurant covers breakfast, dinner and grab-and-go lunch, while a beverage bar serves voco's signature barista coffee alongside pastries from Atlanta bakery Alon's. An outdoor courtyard cocktail bar, anchored by firepits, pours craft cocktails and local beers.
