Waldorf Astoria is opening its first Australian hotel at One Circular Quay, a 28-storey harbourfront tower with unobstructed views of the Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge. The 220-room property, designed by Kengo Kuma & Associates, is set to debut in early 2027 with dining led by chef Curtis Stone.

The place
The hotel occupies One Circular Quay at 1 Alfred Street, a harbourfront tower positioned between the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, developed for Andrew Forrest's Tattarang.
The concept
Waldorf Astoria's first Australian address is also one of Sydney's most contested plots: a 28-storey tower by Kengo Kuma & Associates with Crone Architects, its sandstone-and-glass form rotating upward to face the harbour rather than sitting behind a podium. The brand brings its signature Peacock Alley gathering space and personalised-service model to a market it has never entered.
Dining & wellness
The 220-key hotel is set to include a Waldorf Astoria Spa, a rooftop bar over the harbour, and two original restaurant concepts led by chef Curtis Stone, his first Australian venture.
