The place
West Hotel sits at 65 Sussex Street in the western CBD, a short walk from King Street Wharf, Barangaroo and Darling Harbour — a quieter pocket of the city centre than the George Street strip.
The concept
Opened in December 2017, West Hotel was built from the ground up as the first Curio Collection by Hilton property in Australia, operated by M&L Hospitality. Its identity leans on a botanical theme worked through the building: a three-storey internal garden atrium, a white waratah motif in the lobby and floral carpet patterns through the guest floors, a deliberate departure from the glass-and-steel look of Hilton's mainline brands nearby.
Dining & wellness
Solander Dining, named after First Fleet botanist Daniel Solander, serves breakfast through dinner. The hotel also runs a bar off the atrium, a private meeting/dining room and a gym.
