The Sheraton Minneapolis Downtown Convention Center is the former Millennium Minneapolis, a 14-story hotel on the site of the Capp Towers Motor Hotel that the Capp family has owned for more than six decades. It closed on November 4, 2024, and reopened in spring 2025 under Marriott's Sheraton flag with all 321 rooms redone. The family remains owner and operator. What changed is the brand, the design and the food.

The place
The hotel stands in downtown Minneapolis and is joined by skyway to the Minneapolis Convention Center, which makes it one of the closest rooms to the halls. The skyway network also reaches much of the central business district, a useful detail through a Minnesota winter.
The site is that of the Capp Towers Motor Hotel, the family's original property.
The concept
Gensler oversaw the renovation with Marriott, working through the lobby, the guest rooms and the event floors. The lobby was redrawn and extra public spaces were added.
The 321 rooms now use light oak, neutral textiles and tan leather. Tables rise and lower on power, seating is ergonomic, and beds are the Sheraton Sleep Experience platform model, with walk-in showers and offset TV walls. Vintage advertisements and black-and-white photographs of the original Capp Towers hang as artwork, a deliberate nod to the building's earlier life.
The hotel counts 19 event spaces and 23,500 square feet of flexible meeting space, each with new light fixtures, carpeting and millwork. Three new working formats were added: The Community Table, a lobby workspace; The Booths, soundproofed rooms for calls and focused work; and The Studios, small-group meeting rooms. Other sources quote a larger figure of up to 33,150 square feet, and the totals depend on how ballrooms and pre-function areas are counted.
There is an indoor pool and a fitness centre. The renovation was announced as finished on May 22, 2025, although one trade report places the reopening in April.
Dining & wellness
Two food concepts replaced the old outlets. Esther's Table is the restaurant, named for Esther Capp, matriarch of the family. Executive Chef Keven Kvalsten builds the menu on Midwestern seasonality and local culture.
&More by Sheraton sits in the lobby and runs all day, from coffee to cocktails. It takes the place of a traditional hotel bar.

May 22, 2025: Sheraton Hotels & Resorts announced the reopening of the Sheraton Minneapolis Downtown Convention Center after a six-month, $40 million transformation of the former Millennium Minneapolis. All 321 rooms were redesigned, 19 event spaces were upgraded, and the hotel introduced the restaurant Esther's Table, named for Esther Capp, and the lobby concept &More by Sheraton. The Capp family remains owner and operator and Gensler led the design.
