Hotel Indigo Minneapolis Downtown

Hotel Indigo Minneapolis Downtown opened in May 2023 (following a December 2022 soft opening) inside the mid-century Northstar Center tower, IHG's first Hotel Indigo in downtown Minneapolis, with design nods to the site's earlier Northstar Hotel history.

The place

Inside the Northstar Center tower in downtown Minneapolis, with skyway access to the Minneapolis Convention Center and Target Center, and a short walk to the Orpheum Theatre and First Avenue.

The concept

IHG's first Hotel Indigo in downtown Minneapolis, developed and owned by Great Lakes Management Group inside the Northstar Center, a 1960s office tower whose site was once home to the earlier, independent Northstar Hotel decades before the tower era — a genuine new hotel operation rather than a straight rebrand of a currently-operating property. The design leans into that mid-century history: stained glass, photography and other items drawn from the original Northstar Hotel, textural woods, moss-green plaid wall coverings, local artwork and vinyl records nodding to Minneapolis's record-distribution past. The hotel opened with a soft opening in December 2022 ahead of its formal opening in May 2023, and was named a 2025 IHG Torchbearer Award recipient.

Star Bar & Bistro, an American bistro from local restaurateur Kim Bartmann, plus a 24/7 fitness centre featuring Peloton equipment and a business centre.
