Wolgan Valley, New South Wales
Emirates Wolgan Valley, a Ritz-Carlton Lodge
The world's first Ritz-Carlton Lodge, reborn from a shuttered Emirates conservation resort
Announced · August 2026
Emirates Wolgan Valley, a Ritz-Carlton Lodge is set to relaunch a long-running, 7,000-acre Blue Mountains conservation resort — shut since 2023 — as the debut property of an entirely new Ritz-Carlton sub-brand, with a targeted August 2026 opening. The 40-suite, all-inclusive lodge is the product of a joint Emirates-Marriott venture and a further AUD 50 million in renovation on top of the roughly AUD 150 million Emirates has already invested in the site since 2006.

The place
The lodge sits on a 7,000-acre private conservancy inside the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area, roughly a three-hour drive from Sydney. Emirates has owned and operated the site since 2006, when it opened as Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa on former grazing land the airline bought specifically to rehabilitate and re-wild — a conservation mandate baked into the property from the start, with revegetation and wildlife programs running alongside the guest operation for close to two decades. The resort later traded for a period as Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley before reverting to the Emirates name, and closed in 2023 after access to the valley was disrupted; it has sat shut for roughly three years.
The concept
Rather than build new, Emirates and Marriott are relaunching the existing conservancy as the debut property of a brand-new Ritz-Carlton sub-brand — the Ritz-Carlton Lodge, aimed at remote, nature-based luxury rather than the group's usual urban and beach format. Emirates is funding an AUD 50 million renovation on top of the roughly AUD 150 million it has already sunk into the site since 2006, and Marriott is supplying the brand, standards and distribution. The relaunched lodge keeps 40 keys — each suite with its own private pool — along with an arrival lounge and sitting room, a wine room, tennis courts and equestrian stables, positioning it as an all-inclusive safari-style retreat rather than a conventional hotel.
Dining & wellness
Plans call for a signature restaurant and bar built around the property's homestead-and-conservancy setting, a Ritz-Carlton Spa, and an outdoor pool separate from the suites' private plunge pools. None of the individual F&B concepts, chefs or spa-brand partners had been named in sourcing available at the time of writing.
