Hyatt will relaunch Austin's South Congress Hotel as The Standard, Austin in spring 2027 — the brand's first new US opening in over a decade and its first Texas property. The reimagined SoCo landmark will keep its rooftop pool and add the label's signature music and cocktail programming.

The place
The hotel sits at 1603 South Congress Avenue, on Austin's SoCo strip, replacing the long-running South Congress Hotel in one of the city's most walkable retail-and-restaurant corridors.
The concept
Developed with Timberline Real Estate Partners, this is The Standard's first new US hotel in more than ten years and its Texas debut, reimagining the 83-room South Congress Hotel under Hyatt's Lifestyle Group and creative director Amar Lalvani. The existing property closes for renovation in summer 2026 ahead of a spring 2027 relaunch built around music and cocktail programming and what the brand calls a global sensibility filtered through local craftsmanship.
Dining & wellness
A rooftop pool, social wellness programming, and what Hyatt describes as world-class restaurants and bars — specific concepts and chef names have not yet been announced.
