The Loren at Lady Bird Lake

The Loren at Lady Bird Lake opened in fall 2022 at 1211 W Riverside Drive, on the south shore of the lake. It was The Loren Hotels' first property in the continental United States, after the Loren at Pink Beach in Bermuda. It has 108 rooms and suites, and the group's Austin site lists World Hotels Luxury as an affiliation.

The place

The hotel sits in the Zilker area, on the south shore of Lady Bird Lake. Barton Springs and the lake's pedestrian bridge are nearby, and the site mentions paddle boarding, park trails and live music among local activities. From the upper floors the views run to downtown Austin, Zilker Park and, in the distance, the Texas Hill Country.

The concept

Rhode Partners handled the architecture, with Drenner Group and Fleur-de-lis Interior Design also credited. The design draws on the Texan landscape and on natural materials.

Every room has floor-to-ceiling windows and a lake or city view. Bathrooms are finished in natural stone and fitted with rain showers; the hotel's materials mention Malin+Goetz products. Suites run from studios to one and two bedrooms, with five-piece stone bathrooms, and some have private terraces, separate living rooms or connecting doors.

The spa, milk + honey, covers 5,000 square feet and has 10 treatment rooms, steam showers and a lounge. A rooftop terrace holds the infinity pool, there is a fitness center, and an event space on the top level is described as having 180-degree views. A 24-hour concierge handles reservations, tours and transport.

Dining & wellness

Nido, the signature restaurant, sits eight floors up under Executive Chef Brad McDonald, with a menu that mixes Texan influences and coastal European technique. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The hotel also lists a coffee shop at ground level and a guest chef series.
