The Otis Hotel Austin, Autograph Collection

The Otis Hotel Austin, Autograph Collection opened in February 2020 steps from the University of Texas campus, pairing 191 rooms with Otopia, one of the few rooftop pools in the Campus District. Built new alongside a separately branded AC Hotel as part of the same complex, its identity leans on Austin's music scene — in-room vinyl players and a 1,000-plus record library — more than on architectural statement.

The place

1901 San Antonio Street, on the southwest edge of the University of Texas campus in Austin's Campus District — a stretch of West Campus and Guadalupe Street ('the Drag') that draws year-round foot traffic from UT students, parents' weekends and game days.

The concept

The Otis opened in February 2020 as one half of a purpose-built dual-branded complex, sharing its site and construction with the adjacent, separately branded AC Hotel Austin-University. Built new rather than converted, the property leans into Austin's identity as the 'Live Music Capital of the World': every guest room comes with a vinyl record player and access to a curated library of more than 1,000 records, set against copper and leather finishes designed by Dallas firm FlickMars.

Dining & wellness

Acre 41 serves contemporary American food from breakfast through dinner, with Burger Bar, a walk-up counter (a third location of a local concept), alongside it. Otopia, a rooftop pool and lounge with a roughly 4,000-square-foot deck and private cabanas, is billed as the only rooftop pool in the Campus District; Bar AC is an open-air wine and tapas lounge shared with the AC Hotel side.
