The Envoy Hotel, Autograph Collection

One of the Seaport's inaugural hotels, The Envoy opened in June 2015 with 136 rooms and a rooftop bar that quickly became a neighborhood fixture in its own right. Independently owned but flying Marriott's Autograph Collection flag, it set the design tone for the wave of hotels that followed it into the Innovation District.

The place

The Envoy sits in the Seaport District, Boston's newest waterfront neighborhood, built on former industrial land now rebranded the Innovation District. It faces both the harbor and the downtown skyline, putting guests within walking distance of the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, the Institute of Contemporary Art, and the ferry docks — a location that trades the cobblestone charm of the Freedom Trail for glass towers and tech-company lobbies.

The concept

Opened in June 2015 as one of the first hotels to anchor the Seaport's redevelopment, The Envoy operates under Marriott's Autograph Collection banner while remaining independently owned and managed — giving it more design latitude than a typically flagged property. Architecture firm Group One Partners shaped the six-story, 136-room building, while Korn Design built out an interior that leans into the neighborhood's tech-and-innovation identity: a lobby chandelier assembled from reclaimed rope and phone cords, TV consoles built from repurposed bicycle frames, and upper floors clad in shiplap as a nod to the harbor outside.

Dining & wellness

Para Maria, led by Cuban-American chef Tatiana Rosana, serves globally inflected comfort food across a bar, dining room, and patio. Upstairs, Rooftop at The Envoy has built a reputation as one of Seaport's most consistently booked rooftop bars, switching from open-air lounge in summer to an igloo-dining setup in winter.
