Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport

Omni Hotels & Resorts opened its 1,054-room Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport in September 2021, an eight-year, $550 million project billed as the largest hotel to open in the city in decades. Positioned directly across from the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, it became Boston's second convention headquarters hotel, adding the city's largest hotel ballroom and 100,000 square feet of event space to a still-filling-in waterfront district.

The place

The hotel sits in the Seaport District, the reclaimed waterfront neighborhood south of Fort Point Channel that has traded parking lots and warehouses for glass office towers, restaurants, and the Institute of Contemporary Art over the past two decades. Its immediate neighbor is the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, directly across the street and linked by an underground tunnel, which explains both the property's scale and its role as a convention hotel. The Fort Point Channel Historic District's cast-iron warehouses are a short walk northwest, and Logan International Airport is under 15 minutes away by car — a location built around one client above all others: the trade-show and conference business the BCEC brings to Boston year-round.

The concept

Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport rose from an eight-year development led by New Boston Hospitality, a joint venture pairing Omni Hotels & Resorts with Boston-based The Davis Companies, Washington Capital Management, and other local investors, including 39 minority partners — an ownership structure the developers emphasized alongside the $550 million project cost. Boston firm Elkus Manfredi Architects designed the building's two 22-story glass towers, Patron and Artist, with Waldrop + Nichols, Moody Nolan, and Stull and Lee contributing further design work; the latter two are minority-owned firms, part of a stated effort to diversify who builds Boston's skyline. At 1,054 rooms and suites, it stands as the largest hotel project the city has seen in decades, and its 100,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including Boston's largest single hotel ballroom, made it the city's second convention headquarters hotel. That scale could easily have produced an anonymous convention box. Instead the hotel splits its identity across its two towers — Artist Tower leans into exposed concrete and loft-like proportions, Patron Tower into warmer, bronze-toned interiors — and fills its public areas with work by Boston artists, giving the lobby something closer to a small gallery than a meeting-hub waiting room. The result targets two audiences under one roof: the conference and trade-show bookings the BCEC tunnel exists to serve, and leisure travelers drawn to the Seaport's restaurants and waterfront rather than downtown Boston proper.

Dining & wellness

Seven food-and-beverage outlets fill the ground floor and rooftop: Kestra serves Mediterranean-American plates as the hotel's main restaurant, Coquette is a French brasserie, and Cocorico doubles as a coffee bar by day and wine bar by night. The Sporting Club pairs shareable plates with games and screens, Crescendo anchors the lobby as a wine bar, and Legato is a grab-and-go market for guests in a hurry. On the fifth floor, Lifted Pool Bar sits beside the Seaport's only outdoor hotel pool, open year-round with South Boston views. Breve Spa and a 24-hour fitness center round out the wellness side.
