Canopy by Hilton Boston Downtown

Canopy by Hilton's first Massachusetts property opened in March 2022 on the Rose Kennedy Greenway, steps from Faneuil Hall. The 212-room, purpose-built hotel gives several of its rooms rare balcony views over the Greenway and the North End skyline.

The place

Canopy sits at 99 Blackstone Street, wedged between the Rose Kennedy Greenway and Faneuil Hall, in a stretch of downtown Boston reshaped by the Big Dig's removal of the old elevated highway. The Greenway's park space now runs past the hotel's front door, and the North End, TD Garden, and the Financial District are all within a few minutes on foot.

The concept

Opened in March 2022, this was the first Canopy by Hilton property in Massachusetts, built as a six-story, purpose-built hotel rather than a conversion. JCJ Architecture handled both the architecture and interior design, working Boston-specific references into the build — a strategy the brand uses to differentiate Canopy's neighborhood-rooted positioning from Hilton's more standardized upscale brands. Balconies on several suites and rooms look out over the Greenway, the North End, and the Zakim Bridge, an outlook uncommon for a mid-rise hotel in this part of downtown.

Dining & wellness

ROSE Town Kitchen & Bar serves New England-inflected plates and a cocktail program built around the same casual, neighborhood-facing tone as the rest of the hotel, alongside more than 3,000 square feet of event space.
